New Volkswagen ID.3 Facelift

The Volkswagen ID.3 receives a facelift earlier than expected which sees changes inside and out.

The popular electric hatchback made a big splash upon its introduction to the market in 2020 and was the German carmaker’s first vehicle to use its bespoke MEB EV platform.

Fast forward to 2023, and the ID.3 is undergoing its first facelift which enhances several exterior features.

The EV now comes in new colour options and gets refreshed headlight and tail-light clusters. A sharper front bumper in full body colour, with no black plastic, is another addition that is hoped to make the ID.3 appear more aggressive and less 'cute'.

In terms of its size, the car remains a family hatchback with no changes to its dimensions. Measuring 4.26 metres long and 1.81 metres wide, the ID.3 sits between the Polo and the Golf in Volkswagen’s line-up.

VW has listened to customer feedback and has padded more areas with foam. New ambient lighting also contributes to giving the cabin a premium feel.

Infotainment software receives an upgrade, however, UK drivers will have to wait another year until they can get hold of an ID.3 with a new larger screen and revised button layout.

The motors and the battery sizes will remain the same, although a smaller battery version may be available in the future. Pricing for the new ID.3 is expected to be roughly the same as the current model.
