New Polestar 6 confirmed for 2026

Earlier this year, Polestar released images of its O2 concept. The sporty electric convertible had a positive response online and now the Swedish carmaker has confirmed that the concept will enter production in 2026 under the Polestar 6 name.

Electric convertibles are a rarity in the current market and the Polestar 6 will look to challenge the Tesla Roadster that is yet to enter production following its 2017 reveal.

Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, commented: “With the overwhelming consumer and press response, we took the decision to put this stunning roadster into production and I am so excited to make it a reality.”

The Polestar 6 will follow on from the 2 hatchback, 3 and 4 SUVs and the 5 saloon. It’ll make use of an adapted 5 platform with a shortened wheelbase that can seat four passengers and an added hard-top folding roof.

It will have 800V architecture and up to 872bhp and 900Nm of torque from a dual-motor powertrain. A 0-62mph of 3.2 seconds has been targeted as well as a top speed of 155mph.

We don’t know what the range will be yet, but bearing in mind the 5 will have a range around the 300-mile mark, expect something similar for the Polestar 6.
