Polestar has released full images of its new Polestar 3 alongside confirmed trim levels, specs and prices.

Polestar's line-up is set to expand in the coming years with a range of new EV models joining the Polestar 1 and 2. The 3 is the first of the new bespoke electric cars to be released and becomes the brand's first-ever fully electric SUV.

Pricing begins at £79,900, which means the 3 will rival established all-electric family SUVs like the BMW iX, the Mercedes-Benz EQC and the Audi e-tron when it reaches production next year.

The entry-level trim is called the Long Range which, according to Polestar, can travel a massive 380 miles on just one charge. As well as this, you’ll also be able to go from 0-62mph in 5 seconds with a top speed of 130mph. The Long Range uses a 111kWh battery and a dual-electric motor set-up to provide 482bhp and 840Nm of torque to the wheels.

Above the Long Range derivative is the Performance Pack model that's an additional £5,600. This performance focussed SUV has an improved 0-62mph of 4.7 seconds with 510bhp and 910Nm of torque. This extra power does, however, come at the expense of the electric range which drops to 348 miles.

Polestar’s next-generation SPA2 platform is what’s being used on the new 3. This is the platform that’ll be used on the upcoming Volvo EX90.

The exterior images show that Polestar is continuing to update and implement its own design language to help separate the brand from its Volvo associations.

A sloping roofline and flush door handles improve aerodynamics whilst offering a clean and contemporary look. T-shaped headlights, that resemble Polestar’s logo, feature at the front and plastic wheel arches give off a rough and ready aesthetic.

The interior continues to use the Google-based infotainment system that’s in operation on the Polestar 2. A 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen sits in the middle of the dashboard and a 9-inch instrument panel is located behind the steering wheel.

There are lots of high-tech features on the Polestar 3. An eye-monitoring camera can detect whether the driver is tired and a radar system can tell who's in the vehicle so that it can adjust the climate settings accordingly. At launch, cars will come with Pilot and Plus Packs that add features such as Bowers & Wilkins audio, soft-close doors and adaptive cruise control.
