New Hyundai Kona

Images of Hyundai’s second generation Kona have been revealed. The manufacturer’s innovative SUV will get a refresh in 2023.

The updated Kona will retain fully electric, plug-in and full hybrid power options and sit above the Bayon and below the Tucson in Hyundai’s line-up.

One of the main changes you’ll see in the Mk2 Kona is its size. It’s 25mm wider and 150mm longer than the previous version, which combined with a muscular exterior, gives the Kona a more grown-up appearance.

A single light bar that wraps around the bonnet line gives the EV a high-tech and futuristic look. A similar light bar can also be seen at the rear, going across the boot door. These light strips will be pixelated to tie in the Kona’s design with Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 and 6 models.

The car's sides have sharper lines and more pronounced wheel arches that house 19-inch alloys.

The inside gets a significant upgrade too. A 12.3-inch display is fused with a 10.25-inch digital instrument screen on a floating panel. Going by released images, the interior is much brighter with lighter greys and whites making up the majority of the cabin.

Hyundai’s K3 platform, which can be seen on the new Kia Niro, will be used on the Kona. This means that the Kona will likely keep its wide range of electrified powertrains. No technical information has been released by Hyundai yet.
