Useful Driving Apps

If you’re looking to improve your driving experience, then these free apps could become your perfect travel companion.

However, as helpful as these applications may be, please remember to drive carefully and ensure that your phone is secure at all times. Your mobile device should never be a distraction when you’re behind the wheel!

Waze

Waze is an extremely helpful app when it comes to navigating the fastest routes. Waze can provide you with live updates on traffic, roadworks, police, accidents and more. If traffic is bad on your route, then Waze can get you to change direction to save you time.

What's even more helpful is that Waze has CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility so can be synced up to your vehicle for seamless use.

They also have a useful website too!

Zap-Map

If you own an electric car then Zap-Map is an app that you should definitely check out. Zap-Map has a comprehensive list of all the charge points located across the UK. This could be especially useful when you're running low on charge in an area that you don't know. Zap-Map also has a feature that plans routes for you based on where chargers are located to help put your range anxiety at ease.

Their website has lots of informative guides and maps too!

PlugShare

PlugShare works very similarly to Zap-Map and is another app to try out if you have an electric car. PlugShare shows all the nearest charge points and can also help you plan routes that go past rapid charge points.

JustPark

Parking can often be one of the most stressful parts of driving but JustPark helps to make this as hassle-free as possible. It works by allowing you to find and reserve parking spaces in the app, this is great if you're travelling in an area that you're unfamiliar with as you'll be able to choose from different options such as car parks and private driveways.

JustPark also provides the opportunity for you to list your own parking spaces for money. This is useful if you live in a desirable location or if you have a few extra spaces that you don't need.

They have a handy website you can check out too!

Find My Parked Car

Many of us have been in a situation where we've forgotten where we've left the car. Find My Parked Car is an app that ensures this won't happen again by using GPS technology to save the location of where you've parked your vehicle. You'll also be given the option to take a picture of the spot too, this means that when it comes to searching for your car at the end of a long day you'll have a saved location and image to guide you back to your car.

The app has other useful features too such as an alarm that reminds you when your ticket is about to run out.

Citymapper

Although not strictly a driving app, Citymapper does prove very useful when travelling to busy city areas that you are not familiar with. Citymapper has all the info you need to be able to navigate local transport systems.

This app can give you updates on buses, trains, taxis and more and is able to calculate the fastest and cheapest route for your needs. Citymapper also works in lots of Europe's major cities.

Droid Dashcam - Video Recorder

Droid Dashcam allows you to turn your phone into a dashcam. It comes with lots of features to make this easy to manage such as background recording that allows other driving apps to be in use whilst filming and loop recording which means you can choose to auto-delete old files once a set maximum storage space has been met.

Speed, location and time can all be saved to your recording too.
