Meet the T-Roc Cabriolet

Volkswagen’s compact SUV, the T-Roc, will in Spring 2020 gain a convertible bodystyle to widen the car's appeal and increase the model's success. The exterior of the new T-Roc will maintain the same modern styling as it's 5-door counterpart, but loses the rear passenger doors. A soft-top replaces the roof, which opens in nine seconds up to speeds of 18mph, and locks/unlocks electromechanically.

If the car were to roll over, it will detect the vehicle’s tilt and deploy a roll-over protection system to protect the passengers. The convertible is made with a reinforced windscreen frame for improved safety.

Debuting on the new model is Volkswagen's optional Modular Information Matrix (MIB3) which, by using an eSIM can make the system permanently online. This increases the range of services and functions available to the driver. With the optional 11.7” Active Info Display added, the cabin will develop into what Volkswagen are calling a ‘Digital Cockpit’.

‘Style’ and ‘R-Line’ are the two trim levels available from launch. The former is based on individual design, whereas the latter utilises the numerous sporty packs available to create a unique athletic style. The T-Roc Cabriolet can be bought with either a 115PS or 150PS engine - both come standard with a six-speed manual gearbox, but for the optional seven-speed DSG gearbox customers have to choose the 150PS engine.

The T-Roc Cabriolet is set to go on sale from Spring 2020.
