Meet the Ford Puma ST

The new Ford Puma ST is the third crossover from Ford to join the ST line-up proceeding the Focus and the Fiesta. The sporty compact SUV promises to be a fun drive, backed up with some superb specs.

The Puma ST has 197bhp and 320Nm, with a 0-62mph of 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 137mph. It shares many similarities with the Fiesta ST, like its 1.5-litre turbocharged unit and six-speed manual gearbox that gives power to the front wheels.

A notable difference is that the Puma weighs in at 1,358kg, which is heavier than the Fiesta, thus making the new Puma ever so slightly slower than its sibling. It's also important to mention that the Puma’s system will be around 1 decibel quieter.

The exterior of the ST is rather showy with 17” 5x2-spoke alloy wheels, a unique ST-Line body colour front bumper rear bumper. A tough-looking exterior shape is accompanied by a large grille that improves engine cooling and sports suspension that aids the car’s smooth and effortless drive.

A range of driving modes is available for this vehicle to allow for an innovative and enjoyable driving experience. The ‘Sport’ driving mode sharpens the throttle and adds a little more weight to the steering than you would get in the ‘Normal’ driving setting. In the ‘Track’ settings traction controls are switched off and less intervention occurs from the stability program.

This ST has a range of interior features and gadgets to be entertained by. Starting with the 12.3” full digital instrument cluster that’s graphics change depending on the driving mode, gives this hybrid a modernistic interior.

Wireless smartphone charging, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking sensors ad a heated windscreen are some of the other features that the Puma ST offers.

The interior gets some nice touches too over the standard Puma. A flat-bottomed steering wheel completes the sporty look on top of the stylish pedals and soft-feel gearshift.

If you’re in the market for a new smart, sporty compact SUV hybrid in 2021, then the Ford Puma ST is a vehicle that should be on your radar.
